This tour starts from your Lodging and is definitely rated as a thrill ride. Included in the 3 hour tour is approximately 1 hour total traveling by van from your Lodging to and from the Susitna River. Once you reach the Susitna River, you will join your captain for safety instructions before leaving. You must wear ear protection that is provided by us at all times. Adults may choose to wear their life jackets or not - all safety instructions will be made clear before we leave. Hang on as your captain navigates through narrow, log jammed channels, moving through only inches of water and sometimes no water at all - just gravel. He is a year-round resident and knows these waters well.
Our maximum number of guests for each trip is 6. Our normal seating area for our guests is enclosed and safe from the weather elements. However, if the the weather and safety conditions are okay with the captain, be brave and join him atop the airboat riding beside him. This is for the adventurist only.
We will be looking for wildlife and their tracks. If weather permits and tracks are found, the captain will make a plaster cast of the imprint for you to take home. If we do not see any tracks, we will still give each person on this tour an opportunity to take one of our animal casting prints home that are already made up at our office.
On clear days, enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. McKinley. This tour is rated for all ages, so bring your camera and the entire family. Children must wear life jackets at all times and must be made aware that they will be wearing headsets for ear protection at all times. We can chat with each other through our headsets. We will be traveling along the banks of the Susitna River.
If you prebook, we can include fishing trips along with the Airboat tour. This has very limited space and is only available for August and September. Come fish at our secret fishing hole where only an airboat can go! A one day fishing license is required.
